I have always been very critical of Kraisoft games. The Warkanoid series was a woeful attempt at making a good breakout game. The graphics were wonderful, and the play control was terrible. I softened my stance a bit with Atomaders, but Alien Sky is the game that has made me change my stance on Kraisoft.
This game is simply the best Space Invaders game since Galaga '88 hit the arcades. The graphics are very well presented, and the power-ups are a cool to get. The game doesn't stray too much beyond the "it's cool to look at" theme of the game, and it may get boring over time. However, the demo provides a good punch offering more than enough time for anyone to get a good feel of the game.
Kraisoft has always put out games that had a professional quality feel to them. The menus are always well done and you rarely ever run into bugs or have a game crash your computer. Alien Sky continues those traits and the good graphics that we now expect of them. The power-ups are great, with homing missiles that will help you wipe out targets and look dazzling at the same time. And yes, they are finally fixing some of the play control issues that made their earlier games so problematic in my book. Alien Sky controls well, with a touch of practice you'll feel in total control of the ship. My only real complaint was that facing the end-boss I found myself feeling that I would be destroyed no matter what I did. Oh well...perhaps Kraisoft isn't entirely past their tendency for Style over Substance, but for those who enjoy action packed playing, you'll enjoy this game.
