BoXiKoN is a very well put together game.  The game actually isn't as new as you might think, and perhaps that has lead to it looking so polished as a title.  The game was initially created in 1989 for the Amiga, but recently the developer decided to port it to PDAs.  Upon doing so the developer decided also to remake it for the desktop.

The game itself is nothing ground-breaking, but the simpleness of play and solidness of the presentation make it worth some of your time.  In the game you have a grid in front of you into which you place blocks, attempting to complete lines horizontally or vertically.  You complete the rows by placing blocks down on the board, rotating them as necessary to make them fit into the spaces that you have available.  During the game you collect a cache of blocks in various sizes.  All of the Tetris sizes are present in the game in addition to single blocks, and much larger creations of up to 6 blocks (instead of just the four block creations that Tetris is based upon).  Game play proceeded quickly with the point being not just to place the pieces on the board, but also to make sure you are putting blocks down in patterns that won't leave you unable to place future large blocks down on the board.

The graphics are sharp and fun to look at, which certainly helps keep you playing the game a bit.  As fun as the concept is to play, I think the extra effort to make the game look appealing has gone a long ways and you'll feel comfortable playing the game and immediately want to play more if you give this game a shot.
