Maybe Ponpoko was the first, but Joust is the most memorable of this type of Arcade game. Coin World however is a quantum leap from “Joust where if my memory serves me correctly you mounted an ostrich and dispatched enemy knights and other sundry creatures. In the 21st century, you now play “Colin the Coin and attempt to defeat the evil bank note “Flash and his henchmen in an attempt to retrieve your coins as you travel around the world.

The 3-D graphics are superb and quite refreshing, not unlike adding that 1st, 2nd and 3rd light bulbs to your bedroom light after not realizing your only light source for the past two months was your 21 screen. Other developers should take note independent developers should take note and contemplating more 3-D graphics into their games.

Less is better. I thought at first the sound for Coin World could use some improvement, because I was pretty sure the sound within the game was a series of endless loops, which was fine back in the eighties when all you had was an 8-bit processor and 16mhz system running the arcade game, but now the developer should be able to splurge some on the sound. However the more I played Coin World the more I appreciated the simple sound of the action. Although I am sure it would be copyright infringement, I would have loved to have heard Pink Floyd’s “Money

The action was superb. Don’t be fooled by the first two levels simplicity, once onto level three the game jumps in complexity requiring for this one with fat thumbs a lot of opportunity to learn from his mistakes. Overall Coin World is simple addictive, just like the arcade games of yesteryear upon which its premise is founded.
