I was really excited to try out Paint Defense.  It looked pretty interesting and different from the screenshots, and I'm always on the lookout for something new.  While the game does provide a new bit of game play, it unfortunately becomes rather tedious rather quickly and lacks the "fun" factor that I look for in games.

The concept of the game is to use your mouse to paint over various designs on the screen.  These designs are typically circles, squares, triangles, or even just lines.  You move your mouse around and click to paint.  While you are attempting to paint, vehicles such as trucks will drive across the board painting different colors wherever they go.  This then requires that you go back and paint over the spots where they drove over the design you are trying to paint.  Sound complicated?  It isn't.  Sadly what players end up doing is just trying to quickly paint everything on the screen by moving the mouse quickly from left to right as they slowly move down the screen.

The graphics do a fine job of conveying the game, and the music is bright and cheerful.  Overall the game feels very well put together and is the type of game everyone who is watching you play will want to try out.  Sadly the interest quickly goes, but for those who have small children, even down to 3 years of age, this is a game that is worth checking out.

This game is a bit of a different direction for Gradient Studios, whose first game, Strayfire is known for being a high caliber graphic shooter.  Not to say that this game isn't well-produced, it just doesn't have the finished product look that Strayfire does.
