Hello everyone!

It's Global Top 10 week 17 (109) edition:

1 Westward 2 (Sandlot Games)
2 Dream Chronicles 2 (PlayFirst)
3 Can You See What I See? (Freeze Tag)
4 Around the World in 80 Days (Playrix)
5 Dream Day First Home (Oberon)
6 Bejeweled 2 (PopCap)
7 Jojo's Fashion Show (PlayPond)
8 Big City Adventure: Sydney, Australia (Jolly Bear Games)
9 Sally's Salon (Games Café)
10 The Rise of Atlantis (Terminal Studio)

Top 2 is the same as on previous week, Westward 2 and Dream Chronicles 2. On 3rd, there is Freeze Tag's creation with unusual title «Can You See What I See?». Around the World in 80 Days by Playrix entered our Top 10 on 4th. Nothing special at the bottom, pretty flat and boring week to be honest.

Genre Top:

1.Hidden Object (4 games)
2.Match 3 (3 games)
3.Time Management (2 games)
4.Strategy (1 game)

Wow! 3 Match 3 games in Top 10, is it tendency? Is it old new wave or maybe it is just accidentally?

To be continued...

P.S. You can get full and extended versions of the Global Top 10 as well as archives from Logler Games.

Best regards,

So the information is still pretty scant on the up-coming Saqqarah, billed as a AAA casual title that even teenagers will love, but some details from the latest press release were interesting.

It appears to be a logic puzzle game, which doesn't excite me as much as say an action Shmup game, but the other points of the newest release on the game are more promising.

The soundtrack is said to have 25 tracks "many from the same people who worked on The Witcher soundtrack" and the game will feature the voice talents of Michael McConnohie. Those two might be able to push the game over some of the best sound ever in an indie game...speaking of course of the sound and voice in I of the Enemy.

The most recent press release follows:
Quote:
April 23, 2008 – Codeminion released more information and media from their upcoming major casual game – Ancient Quest of Saqqarah.

About a week from revealing Saqqarah – their secret project, Codeminion released more information and media from the game on www.saqqarahthegame.com. The developers revealed more details about the promised variety and length of the game as well as released new in-game screenshots. They also provided first samples of the game’s music and voice-overs.

“In Saqqara, the player will discover a mysterious underground oasis where she or he will be tasked with a quest to restore temples of the Egyptian gods. Each temple will provide a different type of puzzle challenge. Some of them will be well familiar to the casual players, while others were never seen before. They all share some core features and goals, but provide completely different pace and game mechanics” describes Tom Grochowiak, designer at Codeminion. The developers haven’t revealed the exact amount of temples or the total amount of hours needed to complete the game.

Studio representatives also provided more information on the game’s audiovisuals. Maciej Biedrzycki, game programmer, musician and Codeminion’s co-owner says: “We really tried our best to get the production value to the highest level. Saqqarah features graphics rarely seen on this market and puts much more emphasis on soundtrack than the competition. It will feature over 25 music tracks, many from the same people who worked on The Witcher soundtrack. The game’s story will be voiced and among many actors the main character will feature the voice of Michael McConnohie, known from core titles such as Diablo2 or WoW”. Samples of music and voice recordings are available for listening and download from the game’s website.

Game’s exact launch date is still unannounced, but the developers promised to reveal more information and media in the upcoming weeks.

Wild Earth is an interesting game. The original un-finished game was the IGF Game of the Year in 2003. It was the first IGF I attended, which made the experience all the more memorable. Many of the IGF games from that year have made long-lasting impressions on me that have continued through the 5 and a half years that I've been running GameTunnel.

Having gotten my college degree in Zoology, I was particularly taken with Wild Earth, and especially in its attempts at creating realistic looking animals and terrain. By the time the game was released on the PC 3 years later, it had undergone an engine revision and was nothing short of breath-taking. If you haven't seen it on the PC, it's still amazing and a must see.

Now the game has been released on the Wii. I expect that the graphics will have to take a pretty big hit, but the game still looks like it maintains the science core. Other than the fact that it was released this week to the typical lack of fanfare for a game of humble indie roots, there isn't much to say at this point, but look for a review in the near future!

Screenshots and a video can be found on the game's website.
