President Forever. Here in 2008, it's time to take up the tradition once
again. Though I'm sure there have been tweaks to the game in that time, and of
course the issues and candidates have changed, the core of the game looks to be
the same.
First off, lets get the silly acronym out of the way. This is a 4X strategy
game, which means "eXplore, eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate". There aren't too
many 4X strategy games out there, it's a niche that caters to a more dedicated
gamer who is willing to put in the hours to master what tend to be very
sophisticated and deep simulations. In fact, ever since Civilisation2 and Master
Of Orion these games have gotten ever more complex to satisfy an ever-narrowing

Ah, Dragon Warrior.

I still remember the day that a friend invited me over to play it on his Super
Nintendo system. I had dabbled in Western role-playing games (rpg's) like Bard's
Tale or Ultima, and I'd even played a bit of Dungeon & Dragons. None of that
prepared me for what the Japanese had done to the genre. Here was a game that

What do Boggle and haiku poetry have in common? Until recently, I would have
answered that they both deal with words, but otherwise they have little to do
with one another. Thanks to Hot Lava Games, I can now write that they meet in
Haiku Journey, a puzzle game that inspired by the shortest and most popular type
of poetry in the world.

Overview

The unique combination of casual gaming and Japanese poetry gives Haiku Journey
its charm. The goal of the game is to complete enough lev...

We're nearing the grand finale of Sam and Max: Season 2 now, and Chariots of
the Dogs, being the penultimate episode of Season 2, sets up a perfect
cliffhanger for what could be a blockbuster ending (hopefully). Admittedly, I've
not played through every single Sam and Max episode, but Chariots of the Dogs,
with its ingenious time travel puzzles, side-splitting humor (watch out
especially for the villains at the end, which shall not be revealed here) and

Jack of all trades, master of none, though oft' times better than master of
one. Savage 2 certainly fits the bill. Blending elements of FPS, RTS, and online
RPG, the game truly spans the spectrum. Unfortunately, this lack of
specialization prevents Savage 2 from achieving perfection and truly standing
out among other online only titles.

S2 Games claimed to have invented a new gaming sub-genre, the Real Time Strategy
Shooter, with their earlier title, Savage:

Aquaria was the most eagerly anticipated indie title that I think I've ever
had experience with. For months prior to its release game sites (like GameTunnel)
were abuzz with what was to be almost assured gaming splendor. The screenshots
were phenomenal and the hype was high.
duo trades in the sun and sand of Easter Island for the rain and gloom of a

The concept of Mutant is appealing enough: one man, four arms and a multitude
of weapons with which to combat a large-scale alien invasion of Earth. Couple
that with an RPG element that grants you nine superpowers and you should be in
for a good time, right? Well, not so much.

Set in modern day Prague, Mutant wastes no time in throwing you headfirst into
the action. Within minutes you will be running around, armed to the teeth, with

Darkside is a no nonsense shootemup, there are no characters or dialogue and not much of a story â just pure action. Each level consists of a large 3D asteroid, which the player's ship permanently orbits. The player controls the ship using the standard WASD to move and mouse to aim. Anyone familiar with the PS3 network game Stardust HD may cry foul and indeed both games have a similar feel, but Darkside began development before Stardust was announced so this is just coincidence.
Sam and Max have been signed on for a full second season after the first one
met with a very positive reception from fans and critics alike. The first
episode released last November had the duo scurrying to the North Pole and
subduing a manic Santa Claus, and this second episode of Sam and Max: Moai
Better Blues picks up back at their office block where mayhem has descended.
The title pretty much sums up the game itself: the Moai are human figures ...
